From 2008 to 2013, he joined the Food Security Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture as an Executive Manager, where he conducted an in-depth analysis of the food security and nutrition status in Egypt. Ms. Annachiara Scandone is an Industrial Development Expert of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). She is the Project Manager of the “Inclusive green growth in Egypt” project.

She joined UNIDO Regional Office in Egypt in 2013. Since then, she has worked in various areas of UNIDO's interventions in the country: entrepreneurship and MSME development, cluster and value chain development, investment promotion, women's economic empowerment, industrial policy, and currently green growth and circular economy.

Ms. Scandone has been involved in project formulation, implementation, monitoring and upscaling. This also includes developing joint-UN initiatives and partnerships with donors, international financial institutions, multinational corporations, and NGOs.

Her work focused on advancing inclusive and sustainable development of the following key sectors: waste management and valorization, sustainable agriculture and food production, sustainable energy, furniture, textile, plastics, creative industries.

Before joining UNIDO, Ms. Scandone worked at the Permanent Delegation of Italy to the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris. Following his educational and training studies Mr. Mohsen El Beltagy managed his family farms in Delta area and started cultivating horticultural crops that have export potential. He formed with his brothers in 1993 an Export company under the name of BELCO that became one of the leading Egyptian exporting companies nowadays in Horticultural crops to the whole world and all the major international food chain in Europe.

In 1996 Mr. Mohsen T. El Beltagy and his family envisioned the important role of a nationwide collective effort under non-governmental organization supporting the Egyptian economy through exports of horticultural fresh produce crops which was the year when they took the decision of forming HEIA to share information and know how. The effort of forming HEIA was extremely welcomed and supported by international donors in Egypt focusing on exchange of international technical assistance in the domain of production and post harvest activities for major crops; efforts started with focusing on table grapes, strawberries, green beans, citrus, potatoes, mangos, pomme grenade and many other crops. These efforts were followed by intensive support for developing logistics export service aiming at improving quality of Egyptian fresh produce through the developing of the first perishable cold store inside the customs duties of Cairo airport to safeguard the cold chain value. Also HEIA launched 3 years ago its pack house and training center in Upper Egypt ( Luxor ) paving the road for SME to start exporting from upper Egypt capitalizing on the wider export winder from there in addition to creating jobs and increasing household income in Upper Egypt.

• Omar Gharbo is Egyptian and was born in 1972, he holds a BA in Biz Administration from Alex University and enjoys diving and swimming.

In Geneva, Switzerland he led the repositioning and re-design of the value proposition and product offering in Customs Administration modernization for a multinational Swiss firm serving as member of its Corporate Leaders Committee and Senior Vice President for Business Development. He then served as Senior Director of the Middle East & North Africa division of the World Economic Forum in charge of shaping the Forum’s MENA Regional agenda, engaging leaders from government, business and other stakeholders across the region.

• In 2009, El Diwany was named by Arab Business Magazine as one of 50 most influential Arabs.

• 2022 co-founded MGM Climate Business Developers. an Egyptian climate projects developer focused on carbon markets, sustainability, decarbonization and other climate related investments.

• 2019 - 2023 Lead for Alexandria Business Association (ABA) the successful implementation of GIMED, an EU funded green innovation and entrepreneurship project in 6 governorates.

• 2021 - to 2023 Prepared and organized the creation of Green Transformation Partners lead by ABA within a collaboration protocol with Ministry of Planning & Economic Development; which engaged 18 Egyptian companies working in a variety of sector to measure their carbon footprints & declare decarbonization targets.

• 2020 drafted working paper for ABA on Egyptian SMEs Readiness & Response to the Covid 19 Economic Crisis

• 2017 drafted ABA white paper: The Future of Labor Markets in Egypt

• 2014 lead the publication of a research series on the Future of Education in Egypt for ECES

• 2008 facilitated a 2 years USD 4 million partnership between the World Economic Forum and the State of Qatar to launch the Global Governance Initiative

• 2007 established a 5 years USD 45 million partnership between the World Economic Forum and the government of the UAE for hosting the Forum’s Annual Global Agenda Council Meetings

• 2003 introduced automated risk management to a customs administration in Latin America, designed and lead the programming of ValueQuest a WTO compliant Customs valuation platform & introduced automated tracking of transit vehicles to an Arab customs administration.
